so here’s how it went down. i started the day by emailing bro. bott, landry’s mission prep professor, and asking him for permission to propose during his class. at the beginning of his class kids stand up and announce their mission calls and engagements and i thought it would be fun to take advantage of that. and i did!
i went to class with landry and made sure that we got seats on the front row and then i told landry that i had to go to the bathroom. i left the room and ran out to the car, grabbed the ring, the flowers, and the camera, and hustled back to the classroom. todd was there with my roommate cameron and we went in the room through the back door.
now, the part that you don’t see in the video is the announcement that cameron made before i started walking down the stairs. as soon as the teacher asked if there were any announcements, cameron raised his hand and said from the back of the room, “there’s a girl in this room that has an announcement to make but she just doesn’t know it yet!” everyone turned around to see who was talking and i started walking down the stairs. at that point landry still had no idea what was going on, she thought that cameron was going to ask a girl to marry him! then she saw some of my friends sitting along the stairs and still didn’t know. you can see the point when she realizes what is happening because finally notices me walking towards her and she sits back in her chair.
she cried and was completely surprised and i am the happiest man alive!
